Microsoft Update

Simply click on any of the images on this page to see an enlarged version.

It's so so important that your computer is kept up to date; and running Microsoft Update each week can help ensure that your computer is at the forefront of any updates for both Windows and many pieces of hardware your computer is running! You see, Microsoft Update updates not only it's own software but will often provide you with updates for sound cards, printers, scanners, webcams and a whole host of other products!

Click Start -> Click All Programs -> Click Microsoft Update (it'll be right near the top of the list - it's very important that it's Microsoft Update you click - if you can only find Windows Update then click here) -> wait for it to load -> Click Custom -> and wait as the green squares move across the bar - this will take some time - (if no green moving squares appear then click refresh (or press the F5 button on your keyboard) - continue process of clicking Custom and waiting for the green squares for a few seconds and then clicking refresh if they don't, until they do) -> When it's finished checking for updates (and this can take a very long time), on the left, you will see headings such as High Priority, Software Optional, Hardware Optional, Windows XP, Office etc. Click each one in turn and ensure ALL the boxes are ticked. -> Then click Review and Install Updates -> Then click Install Updates -> Then follow the on-screen instructions to install the updates and click Restart if and when asked to. Continue this whole process until a time when the green squares finish and all of the headings, such as High Priority, Software Optional, Hardware Optional, Windows XP, Office etc are followed by (0), ie you've installed all the updates.
