Budding Entrepreneurs Launch Exciting Television Series

A small Warwickshire-based production company run by young people has launched what is hoped to be a nationally acclaimed television series called 'Footprints: In…' The first programme has now been completed, a DVD has been released, the company website is up and running, and the production team are currently touring schools across the country sharing their experiences so far.

The first in the series, 'Footprints: In Somerset', follows three teenagers as they journey through the county visiting places they would not usually dream of visiting and interacting with local people.

The hugely exciting series, 'Footprints: In…' combines a number of different locations, people and music and as a result, will appeal to an audience of all ages.

Perhaps the most surprising and charming aspect of 'Footprints: In…' is that a team with an average age of 18 has created something of such quality and individuality and is continuing to take it to new levels and developing a unique concept within the industry. The camera work and visual aspect to 'Footprints: In Somerset' has already received critical acclaim from within the industry, as has the soundtrack.

The series director Tom Pearson, now aged 20, says, "The Footprints series was always designed to change the way people think about television. By combining a number of techniques usually found in reality, travel and documentary shows we have created something that captures the imagination of all ages, thus creating the perfect family show."

However, nobody could be prepared for how quickly 'Footprints: In Somerset' would take off. "We were surprised to find that the public were actually waiting for a series like 'Footprints: In…' and those who have attended the exclusive showings have embraced it warmly," says Tom. "Some have commented on the fantastic soundtrack, others on the chemistry between the three lads, and others love the beautiful locations. There really is something for everyone and all of those involved in creating the series are so proud and delighted with the outcome."

It is hoped that 'Footprints: In Somerset' will feature soon on national television as talks are ongoing with numerous channels and work is well on the way with the next instalment in the series, Footprints: In Kent, which is scheduled to be filmed in June 2006. www.wildduckproductions.com, the companys website, has been created as an online headquarters for fans of the series, with links to news and updates, behind the scenes insights, and various multimedia, as well as providing an on-line shop where the DVD and t-shirts are available to buy.

Such is the passion and enthusiasm behind 'Footprints: In…' that Tom and some of the production crew are currently touring schools nationwide with the 'Footprints Workshop'. This free service to schools and colleges for GCSE, AS and A Level students consists of a two-hour session, during which Tom and the crew talk about the pre production process, including concept, contact and budget. They then go on to discuss the actual production, covering many aspects ranging from release forms and people management right through to the actual technology and techniques used and developed over the five day shoot. Students then learn about postproduction, including editing, music rights acquisition, promotion and graphic design, and experiences with the industry so far, primarily those with the commissioning and programme acquisition executives. Students are also provided with handouts and information packs to help them break in to the industry.

"By visiting schools and sharing our experiences," says Tom, "we are encouraging others to go out there and bring to life the very things that fuel their imagination. It has always been my dream to make Footprints a symbol of inspiration for those that share the same hobbies or aspirations that I do."
