If you're running your own security products such as AVG, Panda, ZoneAlarm or Windows Defender then run the built in scan now.
If you're using the AVG Security Suite:
AVG should scan your computer (AVG calls it a 'Complete Test') automatically every day so long as your AVG Scheduler is set correctly.
If you have checked your settings before and you don't think they would have changed, you can click Next to move on.
If you are running AVG 7.5 and need to check your settings: To check your settings click Start -> click All Programs -> click AVG -> click AVG Control Centre -> Click Scheduler -> Click Scheduled Tasks -> click Test Plan in Basic Mode -> click Edit Schedule -> ensure that the box marked Periodically Start Scheduled Antivirus Test is ticked -> then check that the time (in 24-hour clock) is set to a time that you are happy for it to scan your computer -> we suggest you under tick the box marked If Missed Start Immediately When User Logs On as otherwise if you miss a scan, for instance your computer as it turned on at the scheduled time, the scan will automatically begin when you next turn the computer on, and therefore slow the computer down at a time when possibly you are trying to do other tasks. However we suggest that you try ensure that the computer is on at least a few times a week at the time scheduled for scanning -> click OK -> click Close -> click the X in the top right hand corner of the window to close the Control Centre.
If you are running AVG 8.0 and need to check your settings: To check your settings click Start -> click All Programs -> click AVG 8.0 -> Click AVG User Interface -> Click Computer Scanner -> Select the scheduled scan and click Edit Schedule, or if there is no scheduled scan click Add New Schedule -> Ensure that the option Run At A Specific Time Interval is selected -> Check that it is set to run every day and choose a suitable time for you -> Ensure that the Enable This Task box is checked -> Click on How to Scan -> Ensure that all tick boxes are checked except for Scan Infectable Files Only ->Click on What to Scan -> Ensure that the option Scan Whole Computer is selected -> Click Save -> Click the X in the top right hand corner of the window to close the User Interface.
