"It was late 2006 when Carran Waterfield, Artistic Director at Triangle Theatre Company in Coventry, first shared with me something of the impact on her of her research into the lives of the 'Last Women' to be executed in the UK. The stories of love and loss, of vengeance and of mercy, had 'got under her skin' and in later conversation with her you could visualize the key themes emerging for a major piece of work - themes that would embrace feminism, history, law, theology, politics - themes that are capable of confronting our compliance with, and reliance on, institutions and unjust structures. The track Parallel Cell was written with the issues that Carran and Triangle have so clearly conveyed in mind (the systemic failures of our criminal justice system, and the harsh reality of domestic abuse, above all the yearning for spiritual strength), and I am delighted, and deeply honoured, that Carran is to use the track in the performances, which will take place at The Belgrade Theatre from the 20th to the 25th of April 2009. Visit Triangle Theatre for more information." - Simon Monaghan, 2009

leere - It's My Morning
Price £3.99
UK P&P £1.50
|
01. It's My Morning
02. Animus Again
The song 'It's My Morning' is nearly thirteen years old. It was first recorded at Gighouse Recording Studios, near Leamington Spa, approximately six years ago.
However, recently friends of the band were kind and supportive enough to raise funds for the track to be re-mixed and to be released as a single. It is backed with the song 'Animus Again' from the leere debut album of 2005 'Compassionate Ride'.
Lead singer Simon Monaghan was touched by the generosity and the good will of his closest friends. 'One or two mates associate the track with particular shared moments over the last few years and inevitably we begin to reminisce whenever it is played. The song was acting as some sort of backdrop to the fun and adventure of that time together... when they seriously suggested re-working the song I instinctively said yes, good idea... it felt like a real vote of confidence from those you know and love.'
The second track on the single 'Animus Again' features the many talents of Warwickshire musician Paul Brook, who sadly passed away earlier in the year. Simon remembers him fondly: 'His whole focus and drive was born of trust. Paul Brook was an exceptional talent and it was a privilege to work on the leere album with him over the course of a year. We shall all miss him dearly'.

The efforts of Warwickshire-based band leere have produced a melodious and highly listenable album, encompassing a broad range of musical styles with a very definite acoustic feel. The lush harmonies and string arrangements provide an ideal backdrop for the harsher vocal delivery of lead singer Simon Monaghan.
The opening track "St Catherine", a song based on a visit to a tiny chapel in Derbyshire, sets the scene, leading into the upbeat pop of "People Poured Out" and taking us through ballad, light country swing and delicate jazz, to the Lennonesque finale of "My New York Of This Isle".

Join Jack, Matt and Tom on a whirlwind five-day exploration of the unique county of Somerset. Watch as the lads are put through their paces as they experience life in the West Country on this adventure with many a humorous twist. Then let MattCam take you behind the scenes and usher you into Matt's weird and wonderful world, captured through the lens of his camcorder.
All kinds of challenges and surprises await the teenagers as they get a taste for country life:
- Matt finds his animal instincts at Secret World, although Jack's not quite so happy when he meets a few furry friends.
-
The lads join the local skittles team and it's boys vs. girls in this high tempo battle of the sexes.
-
The myths and legends of Glastonbury are unveiled at the Tor, while the Rural Life Museum reveals a by-gone way of life.
-
The lads share their insights as they take in the beauty of the medieval Wells cathedral before playing a rather peculiar game in the town centre.
-
The visit to a dairy farm sees the lads soon mucking in... and mucking out, but the rewards are well worth the work!
-
At the end of their trip to the beach, as they stand watching the sun setting over the horizon, the lads reflect on their incredible journey.
-
But after a week of discovery and learning, a few questions remain unanswered... Why did the butcher have a key to the prison? Where in the world will Matt end up? And just what exactly is mud horse fishing???
Footprints: In Somerset is now a two-disc DVD, and includes the special Festival Edition, as well as Footprints: In Leek Wootton, the highly original Matt Cam Edit, outtakes and an internal trailer.
